WE ARE MORE NOV 23, 2024
JOIN THE DEMONSTRATION!
23rd NOVEMBER AT 13PM AT CAMPO 24 DE AGOSTO, PORTO
AGAINST RACISM! AGAINST XENOPHOBIA!
WE ARE MORE! WE ARE PEOPLE'S POWER!
How much do you earn? What are your working conditions?
How much do you pay for a roof over your head?
In Portugal, 2 million people are at risk of poverty, while the 5 largest banks made profits of 2.619,4 million euros in the first 6 months of 2024. Wages are not enough for anything, and the rents are too high and getting higher, yet there are more than 723'000 empty homes in the country, 20'000 in Porto only.
But the far-right party Chega, following the European far-right, insists on blaming immigrants for the country's problems, hiding political decisions and the origins of their funding, with the complicity of the government and the media.
Yet, are the immigrants the bosses exploiting us, owning the largest supermarket chains, or evicting us to build more hotels?
Chega is just another party defending the privileges of the richest 1%. They are against the impoverished majority and blame immigrants, the Roma and Black communities, and even the 2% of RSI recipients. This war against the working class includes the hate campaign organized by the party and other openly racist groups like 1143. At the beginning of November, Chega supported the police operation that killed yet another Cape Verdean immigrant in Lisbon, Odair Moniz.
AGAINST FAR RIGHT, WE ARE MORE!
They talk about crime, but who are the real criminals? It’s the ones attacking the working class! So-called "violent and serious" crime decreased by about 27% in Porto, but racist crimes kept increasing, with +38% just in 2023.
Finally, after choosing to stand against those who sustain the country, Chega, with 50 MPs in the Assembly, is calling for an anti-immigration demonstration on November 23rd in Porto.
We Habitação Hoje, in solidarity and commitment to the true interests of workers, portuguese and immigrants, call together with other organizations for the demonstration AGAINST FAR RIGHT, WE ARE PEOPLE'S POWER!
> return of the Manifestação de Interesse
> regularization of all immigrants, because irregular status is an open door to insecurity, exploitation, and abuse. > dignified working and housing conditions, access to education and healthcare!
